Export to CSV

Write your transactions to a plain spreadsheet file for use outside Pentos.

The CSV export writes your transactions as an ordinary spreadsheet, for a tool that is not Pentos: a spreadsheet, an accountant, your own analysis.

Steps

To export to CSV, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings tab.
  2. Tap Export Transactions CSV.
  3. Choose where to save or share the file.

The file is named Pentos Transactions.csv and opens in any spreadsheet application.

What it contains

Your transactions: dates, payees, categories, accounts, amounts, and notes.

What it does not contain is everything else. No budget assignments, no rules, no schedules, no goals, no account settings, and no record of what you budgeted in any month.

Caution

A CSV export is not a backup and cannot be restored into Pentos. For that, refer to Back up your budget.

Leaving

If you decide Pentos is not for you, this is the file that leaves with you. It is your transaction history in a format every other tool reads, and it is available whenever you want it, with no export request and nobody to ask.
